The "ALWAYS DEPENDABLE DOUGLAS!" Douglas, the 1st time Dad at 49 proves age does NOT matter! Now 53, Doug has more enthusiasm for fatherhood than ever before & he’s no slouch. He runs circles around our energetic 4 year old. He is amazing, full of energy, smiles & laughter. Unbeknownst to us until her birth, Kiya had a Unilateral Cleft Lip and Full Cleft Palate. Quite a challenge for us as new parents but nothing we couldn't handle as a TEAM. I knew together with a man like Doug we would get through any difficulties just fine. At 5 days old Kiya was seen by 6 specialists at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. We are forever grateful for their skills and abilities to repair cleft lips & cleft palates. I knew Kiya would make it through this difficult journey just fine as Doug as our rock. At 3 mo. & 12 mo. Kiya underwent successful surgeries to repair her clefts. Doug was Kiya's human pillow as she would only sleep on her Daddy's chest after both surgeries. DOUG IS A MAN OF STRONG SHOULDERS & THE AMAZING ABILITY TO SLEEP IN ANY CHAIR! We are proud to say that Kiya has healed exceptionally well & is a happy and healthy 4 year old! Always grateful for his dependability, balance, love & calm he brings to our lives.
