Dad's Toyota Legacy
This is a picture of my brother in front of my Mom & Dad’s 1982 Toyota truck. It was the first of 4 Toyota trucks in our family. I would like to nominate my mom to win the 2015 Toyota Tundra. My Dad passed away in a work-related accident when I was 4 and my brother was 7. We are both in our 30s now. After his passing, Mom took on the role of both mother and father and there is no one more deserving of a new truck. Currently she drives a 2002 Toyota Tundra that has over 403,000 kms. She taught us how to shoot, drive an ATV, drive a standard truck, change a tire, use a chain saw, to name a few. There were lots of travels in our 1990 Toyota truck throughout the province and evenings at the hockey rink. She placed a high importance on education and spent many hours and miles moving us back and forth from university. Mom works two jobs; one as a school secretary and the other doing emergency after-hour work that involves her driving evenings, nights and weekends in remote areas of the province. Because her truck has so many kilometers she has been looking into getting a new Toyota truck but the cost of a new truck ways heavy with the financial burden. She is an advocate of the Toyota product and her heart is set on another Toyota. While other people her age are retiring my mom knows she needs to keep on working. I’m sure the absence of my father on Father’s Day has caused a sting in her heart for many years… I would like to help make this Father’s Day a special one for her.
