On Saturday, April 18th, 2015, as I was just about to head home from Vernon from a college interview- I received a call from my sibling saying my Dad had been rushed to emergency at QEII hospital. 4 hours later, he had went from "critical" to "intensive" condition & was sent to ICU. 5 Days later, he was flown by STARS to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Edmonton. There he spent 7 weeks, 4 in ICU & the other 3 in the critical care ward. My Dad had been diagnosed with Bacterial Meningitis, & if my brothers had not found him in his bed almost unconscious that Saturday morning I would have lost him forever. My Dad's a heavy duty mechanic & has spent his life pulling wrenches. He's saved not only me but all my siblings & our family friends tons of time & money doing everything he could for us as far as vehicle maintenance & anything handy went. My Dad's spent his life putting his 4 kids above everyone including himself, & now he's left limited to movement as he lost all his weight & muscle from his sickness. My Dad's made my siblings & I his world, & almost losing him tore mine apart. Winning this truck for him would be amazing - however letting the world know how selfless & giving of a father he is would be even greater. My Dad has forever been dependable, from road trips for hockey tournaments for my brothers to supporting my sister & I in our 4-H, Dad was always putting on the miles, & when he's recovered I know he'd love to make up for lost time in a brand new Tundra!
