A dependable dad's dedication to his family touches the hearts of all those who see it. Wouter is that dad and he doesn't even know it. His expectations of fatherhood had to adjust when his daughter, Adelyn, was born in 2012. Adelyn is physically and mentally delayed and suffers from seizures that impede her breathing. Wouter takes every challenge in stride and truly is the rock of his family. Even during only the last few months there have been countless times when Wouter spent all day at work only to spend all night at the Stollery with Adelyn while she fights a prolonged battle with pneumonia. He is there to give her all the cuddles and attention she needs to feel safe during the night, allowing his wife, Monique, to go home and get some rest. Through all the hectic hospital running, Wouter also finds time to spend with his 1 year old son, Adrian. Both kids love their dad to the moon. He knows exactly how to make them laugh and those giggles are the glue that keeps the family together. Through all the health challenges this family has faced with Adelyn, Wouter keeps his family positive and still makes time for camping, visiting friends, and enjoying the outdoors. Wouter has the strength and perseverance to be a loving father to his daughter, who needs him so much. Wouter makes time for his son to ensure he feels loved, even though his sister commands much of the family's attention. Wouter loves his wife. He truly is the definition of a dependable dad.
